Your life is your life. Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission. Be on the watch. There are ways out. There is light somewhere. It may not be much light, but light beats the darkness. Be on the watch. The gods will offer you chances. Know them. Take them. You can’t beat death, but you can beat death in life, sometimes. And the more often you learn to do it, the more light there will be. Your life is your life. Know it while you have it. You are marvelous. The gods wait to delight in you.

“December 10, 2011”. Jim Paredes has been tweeting about the lunar eclipse happening on that date. “The last lunar eclipse of the year”. It sounded pretty cool and I thought might as well make it memorable. After much research, I was able to get the actual time. 7pm-1am, they said.

Celebrate. A rare occasion such as this calls for a celebration. It was going to be a beautiful night. After some thinking, I finally had a plan. Dinner. Roofdeck. Pray that it doesn’t rain.

December 10, after lunch. “Les, game for tonight. But we have to play it by ear. If it rains we’ll just end up having dinner. Pero it’s ok.”. “Ok, i’ll talk to the lobby guard about the roofdeck” replied Les.

December 10, 7pm. Finally woke up. “It’s raining in alabang…” I said. “It isn’t here…” said Les. “I’m on my way!!!!”

9pm. There was an overcast in Makati and it started drizzling. But that didn’t stop us from taking our pizza and wine to the pool area.

10pm. The sky started to clear up! The stars were shining and the moon was full… and was being gobbled by the earth’s shadow (just as we gobbled our pizza). Pretty cool moment. Beautiful sight.

11pm. We got ready for a night out. Brilliant idea. The lunar eclipse was in full effect. People at Fiamma didn’t seem to notice it though. We got our drinks and just hung out outside.

… and so goes the rest of the night.

Music, dancing and a lot of merry-making during the lunar eclipse. Sounds like we celebrate December Solstice after all. Good job.

Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach

Australia celebrates Easter Monday. So my brother and his wife took pity on me and drove me all the way to Torquay so we could watch the Rip Curl Pro at the infamous Bells Beach.

We forgot it’s the mecca for the majority of Aussies… And so begins our little adventure…

Parking was crazy but it was an overwhelming feeling knowing there are so much surfing fans in Oz. Layo ng parking namin mehn.

And we literally had to go through barbed wired with a bunch of other blokes…

Go downhill, through trees and a massive parking lot…

to get to the cliff where we finally saw Bells Beach.

Never saw so many surfers and surfing fans in one beach. THANK YOU GOD.

Turns out we got there just in time. It was Parko and Fannings final heat! Saw Parko win, got some awesome shots and was even there when he rang the bell so hard he pulled the string off. GNARLY. Had a bitchin’ good time!

Natatandaan n’yo pa ba yung pakiramdan noong 1986 People Power sa Edsa?

Watched the new Green Hornet movie starring Seth Rogen and Jay Chou today. Laughed my ass off!

One of my favorite lines?

Britt: So where are you from?
Kato: I’m from Shanghai, I don’t know if you’re familiar with it…
Britt: Oh yeah! I love Japan…

It’s definitely a movie to watch in the cinema (finally something worthwhile again!) Despite the comedic punch lines the movie still kicks ass. Kato is as awesome as ever… and cuter! I heart you Jay Chou!

I’m not too sure about the bionic treatment though. But love- love- love the action scenes… and the humor Seth Rogen brings to the franchise. It’s definitely not the TV series, so be careful Hornet aficionados. (and I only refer to the TV series cause I used to watch it with my brother. I mean Bruce Lee was Kato. Who wouldn’t watch that?!?!?)
